IATE Gateways:
Common Error Messages

InnoSys Inc.

Message:

ÊÊÊÊ idob.c:121 2 The system cannot find the file specified.

ÊÊÊÊ Unable to open board:0 board device:.

ÊÊÊÊ Unable to open device \.\innopcix_yÊ error:2

Meaning:

These messages indicate that the InnoPCI device driver has not been started or is not running correctly, or that a required INSCC-QP PCI board is not installed.

The InnoPCI device driver is used for ALC and X.25 connections.Ê It is not used for TCP/IP host connections.

For Windows XP or 2000, the device driver loads automatically at system startup (through the plug-and-play mechanism).Ê ÒInnoPCIÓ device(s) should appear in the Device ManagerÕs list of devices.Ê The number of InnoPCI devices listed there should equal the number of installed INSCC-QP PCI boards.

ÊFor Windows NT 4, it is necessary to use the ÒLoad DriverÓ shortcut before starting the ALC Gateway or X.25 Bridge.Ê The ÒLoad DriverÓ shortcut can be found in the ÒInnoSysÓ desktop folder, subfolder ÒManual StartupÓ.

Whenever additional INSCC-QP board(s) are added to a system running Windows NT 4, it is necessary to run the installation setup again, to make the necessary registry entries to support the new hardware. Insert the IATE installation CD, run the setup program, select the Custom setup type, and select Add New Hardware.Ê Enter the total number of cards that the gateway machine should support.Ê This software reinstallation step is not necessary for Windows XP or 2000.

ÊÊÊ Cannot find port record for port:1490424960 fd:4728. Message discarded

ÊÊÊ c:\ver2_32\server\hostiont.c:827Ê DEL> port: ... correlation: ...

ÊÊÊ Unknown command code: ...

Meaning:

Messages similar to the above may indicate that a PCI slot may be malfunctioning, or that an INSCC-QP PCI board may be damaged.Ê Turn the system's power off, open the case, and make sure that each installed INSCC-QP board is well-seated in a PCI slot.Ê Try installing the INSCC-QP board(s) into different slot(s) on the gateway machine.Ê If the problem persists, contact InnoSys.

Message:

ÊÊÊ System error 21.Ê Device not ready ....

Meaning:

This error indicates that the operating system cannot communicate with the InnoSys INSCCQP PCI board.ÊÊ Turn the system's power off, open the case, and make sure that each installed INSCC-QP board is well-seated in a PCI slot.Ê Try installing the INSCC-QP board(s) into different slot(s) on the gateway machine.Ê If the problem persists, contact InnoSys.

Message:

ÊÊÊ Getservbyname for service <service-name> fails.Ê Error:11004

ÊÊÊ Getservbyname failed <service-name> fails.Ê Error:11004

Meaning:

These errors indicate that the ALC gateway or X.25 bridge could not find a required network service-name definition.

These errors generally mean that the ALC gateway or the X.25 bridge has been configured to use a service name that is not defined in the services file.Ê Check the ALC gatewayÕs ÒSERVER_NAMEÓ option, or the X.25 bridge ÒSERVICEÓ option.Ê Any service name specified by those options must also be configured in the services file.

On Windows XP, 2000, or NT systems, the local services file is located at %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\services.Ê On UNIX systems, it is located at /etc/services.ÊÊ The IATE installation program makes two entries in the services file:

ÊÊÊ x25gateÊÊÊÊÊÊ 1412/tcpÊÊÊÊ # InnoSys entry for one X.25 connection

ÊÊÊ ialcserverÊÊÊ 1413/tcpÊÊÊÊ # InnoSys entry for the ALC gateway

The ÒialcserverÓ entry specifies the default network port on which the ALC gateway listens for connections from clients.Ê For an X.25 connection, the ALC gateway must also communicate with the X.25 gateway.Ê The Òx25gateÓ entry specifies the default network port on which the X.25 gateway listens for connections from the ALC gateway.

The ALC gateway and the X.25 gateway can be configured to use different or additional service names or port numbers.Ê The ALC gatewayÕs SERVER_NAME option can specify a service or port other than the default ÒialcserverÓ for client connections. For X.25 connections, the X.25 gatewayÕs SERVICE option can specify a service or port other than the default Òx25gateÓ.Ê The ALC gatewayÕs ÒX25_GATEWAYÓ option also specifies the X.25 service or port so that the ALC Gateway can connect to it.

Case is significant in service names.Ê Service names cannot contain spaces.

For more information about gateway configuration, and about the use of network service names and port numbers, please refer to the Gateway documentation.

Message:

ÊÊÊ Bind failed.ÊÊ Error: 10048

ÊÊÊ Select fails.Ê error:10022

Meaning:

A bind failure occurs when two gateways try to listen on the same network port.Ê Check the gateway configuration files for a conflicting network service name or port number.

Message:

ÊÊÊ Config Ack Timeout

Meaning:

The SABRE host has rejected the gatewayÕs configuration.

Please create a gateway log file, as described above, and email it and all appropriate gateway configuration files to InnoSys technical support.

Message:

ÊÊÊ Clear (or Network Clear)

Meaning:

A Switched Virtual Circuit (SVC) Call has been cleared, because the Host has rejected the gateway configuration, or because the X.25 network is down.

When the Host rejects the Gateway configuration for X.25, the call is Cleared. Calls can be cleared for other reasons as well. Often the Host will return information indicating the reason for the Clear, in the form of two hexadecimal numbers, known as a Cause and Diagnostic.

The Cause and Diagnostic codes can be seen in the X.25 or ALC Gateway's debugging diagnostics (following the CLEAR message). This information is displayed when the gateway's debugger is activated and the verbosity level is set to certain levels such as -vff (for X.25) or -v100ff (for TCP/IP).
